Poolie Program
Can't Wait to Become a Young Marine? Read below to get started NOW!!
The Lewis and Clark Young Marines have a Poolie program for anyone interested in becoming a Young Marine who has:
1. Attended an Orientation
2. Submitted all necessary paperwork to the unit Adjutant
3. Has paid the required registration fee to become a Young Marine and the additional $25 for the poolie program.
What is the Poolie Program??
The Poolie program bridges the gap between Orientation and the wait for the upcoming boot camp.
The Poolie program is NOT a boot camp; it is an INTRODUCTION to the Young Marine program, the expectancies of being a Young Marine, and the Young Marine way of life.
Recruits who have met the above 3 criteria may begin attending on our Poolie drill dates and work with a Poolie Drill Instructor on various activities of the Young Marines and better prepare them for their first day of Boot Camp when they will meet their Senior Drill Instructor for the first time.
While we feel those who go through the Poolie program are better prepared, the Poolie program is NOT required; it is simply a tool for those anxious to become Young Marines to get started right away.

Rifle Range - Marksmanship ribbon
On Saturday, 1/23/10 the unit will be going to Vancouver Rifle & Pistol indoor range to shoot on their range to work on the Marksmanship ribbon again.
Permission slips are required. Blank ones can be found at the Sign In/Out table with Ms. Wood.
Rifle Safety classes are also required. YMs who shot on the range on 10/31/09 have met their required safety class obligation. However, there are several YMs who did not shoot on the range that day and so therefore have not met their safety class requirement.
A safety class will be given at Study Night on Wednesday, 1/20/10. All YMs who have not met their safety class obligation are required to attend this class if they wish to shoot on the range.
Records are kept from year to year as to who has participated in the range each year. We also track the permission slips as well as rifle safety class attendance. If you are uncertain as to whether or not your YM has satisfied their safety class requirement, please contact the Adjutant.
Each shooter on the line on qualification day will have an adult standing next to them assisting with their time on the line.
Safety is our #1 concern that entire day. This is our 4th year running our range time and we've been successful each time!
